1,4-Butanediol (BDO, also known as 1,4-butylene glycol or tetramethylene glycol) is a bifunctional linear diol used as a chain extender in polyurethane elastomers, a monomer for polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polybutylene succinate (PBS) resins, and a precursor for tetrahydrofuran (THF) and gamma-butyrolactone (GBL).
